We just purchased your product. We are using version 4 with Access 2000 database and Outlook 2003.

We are primarily synchronizing from database to Outlook. There are certain users that we would like to be able to synch back to database from Outlook but we have encountered a couple of questions.

Right now, we are experimenting with a few users with an automatic synch every 3 mintues. Here is the problem. If a user changes time/date on an event in Outlook and then some other user changes event in database (could be other things that are being changed - not just time/date). When the store all is executed, we have chosen the option to compare last mod time and most recent change wins. So in this case, the new date/time are not reflected in database record.

We might try to synch more often to minimize the possibility of this but we may encounter performance issues and it's still not guaranteed 100% that events won't be out of synch.

Here is a line from your documentation ... "For best synchronization results use "Auto Save option" in Folder Options dialog and Load All as Direction for scheduled auto sync." We have multiple Exchange users so we elected to set up a dedicated GeniusConnect machine with all the mailboxes there. Would this option work for us?

Is there a way to "lock" the record in Outlook if it has been previously loaded from database?

Also, I don't think this is available now but maybe you could adjust the rules so that you can pick different actions depending on whether it's a Load All or Store All?

Thank you very much for your help.

Are you using Auto.Save option?
This will write changese made in Outlook directly to Database (minimizing problems with mutliple users writing the same records)

"... set up a dedicated GeniusConnect machine with all the mailboxes there. Would this option work for us?
Yes, when syncing from dedicated PC, there is no performance hit for the client/user PC

"Is there a way to "lock" the record in Outlook if it has been previously loaded from database?"
No, there is no way to lock records in Outlook/Exchange

"...you could adjust the rules so that you can pick different actions depending on whether it's a Load All or Store All? "
can you explain this question?

We would like to use Auto Save on Outlook item change but it doesn't seem to be working. Is there some other option that is preventing this or is something in our configuration preventing it?

Thank you.

Auto.Save is enabled only in Business license and higher, what is your license?

Our license is multi user business. The checkbox for Auto.Save is enabled (it is not greyed out) but nothing seems to be happening (in the database) when we change a previously synchronized item in Outlook.

This is strange, this means GeniusConnect does not get events from Outlook/MAPI.
If progress dialog is ON, you must see progress of writing the changes to DB.

Can you check your Outlook version, it must be 11.8118.8132 SP2

We have version 11.6568.6568 SP2 - what does this mean for Auto.Save?

Thank you

Are you running GeniusConnect on Dedicated PC, and user are running in cached mode?
(if user runs in cached mode, the change will be detected after Outlook sync to Exchange)
