I am testing the Auto Synchronization feature using GCScheduler and an Outlook Macro. I had set the direction for the folders to "Load All", but after the synch operation, the directions were all reset to "None". If I run the synch again what will any changes be updated?
How can I retain the "Direction" setting?

The OutlookConnect File version is 3,0,0,2. I have downloaded, installed, and registered GeniusConnect this week.

Hi,

I can't reproduce it.
We will test it again and let you know if we find something.

After further testing, the problem of resetting the Direction of synchronization may have been related to Macro security levels.

When I first added the macro and put it on the toolbar I was able to execute the macro but was having the directions reset. Later I was unable to execute the macro and received security setting warnings. After I set the macro security to Low and re-executed the macro, the synch direction was not reset.

One additional observation is that when I added the synch macro as a new button to the OutlookConnection toolbar, the button disappears when I exit and restart Outlook. I have switched to add the macro as a button to the "Advanced" toolbar and it stayed on the toolbar throught the exit and restart of Outlook.

Thanks for the test. I don't understand how and why Outlook resets our settings, but you are correct, it has to do with Outlook security levels.

The problem with custom button on GeniusConnect toolbar is our bug. GeniusConnect saves only positions etc. of our buttons, not custom buttons.

Since GeniusConnect is an Outlook Add-in, we depend on Outlook. You have to use lover security level with the Marco settings, otherwise Outlook will block the code.

For some reason the macro that invokes the external scheduler to sync multiple folders are now stopping after synching first few folders, and not all the folders that are scheduled to be synched.

This started to happen after we applied updates to our Exchange2003 server with SP2 and a hotfix (KB911829) from Microsoft. We are running the latest version of GeniusConnet 3.0.1.2SP3.

I also tried invoking the GCScheduler.exe outside of Outlook and am getting the same result. Out of 12 folders to be synchronized, it synched the first 2 and stopped.

Can you check the folder mappings (Assign Table)and auto sync settings?
Is there any error message? (Please uncheck the Block errors and warnings checkbox)

I have checked the folder mapping, they appear OK, I was able to do the "Load All" on the individual folders. In the "Sync Schedule" tab, "Sync w/DB automatically" is selected, so is "External Scheduler". The "Block errors and warnings" is not checked.

I tried changing the order of the folders to be synched and get different results. Right now it stops after the first folder. The messages indicate that it started on the second folder, followed by the messages: "Connect to DB", "Connected to DB", and then "Disconnected" without any entry updated messages.

Thanks,

Are you sure the problem started after the hotfix?
we will investigate the MS hotfix (KB911829).

We did several updates to the Exchange Server, Microsoft Server 2003 SP2, Exchange Server 2003 SP2, and then the hotfix. The hotfix required SP2 and we were not sure which SP2, so we installed both.

Thanks for looking into this problem.

Can you try to run without Progress dialog (GeniusConnect config->Options->Use Prog.....)?
Let me know the result, it maybe a bug in Progress dialog.

I turned off the option of "Use Progress Window..." and the scheduler ran to completion on all the folders. It appears that the problem is with the Progress dialog. With the progress dialog off, will it still prompt about deletions?
