Hello,

you don't need reboot just restart Outlook. We are still working on the deployment.

Thanks

Update:

Installed and up and running. Needed to reboot oulook to get adin to show in ribon on 2010 outlook. Once added inputting setting easy (no need to "Http://")

Each channell shows as a seperate calendar.

I had to add and remove a fake calader to get EPC calendars to show - is there a way of refreshing this part?

As all EPG sources were listed in one lump i tried to add a "TV" sub folder and then point the setting to this to neaten things up - so far no luck in achiving this - any thoughts? I shall keep tinkering.

I was able to schedual recordings and also watch tv - TV quality was not good however but I notice settings for streamning TV are not in the bets so I guess this will come in due course.

Overall for a Beta release this is fantastic - I am very impressed and realy keen to see further releases - great start guys - and thnak you to Ian over at TDL for highlighting this in his tweets! :-)

Great stuff!

Thanks.

Appolagies - i meant reboot outlook not the PC, so I had just rebooted outlook. this of course is expected with any add in so was very normal.

Thanks.

"Each channell shows as a seperate calendar."
This is by design, we have considered (and also tested) only 1 folder, but it gets completly cluttered

"I had to add and remove a fake calader to get EPC calendars to show - is there a way of refreshing this part?"
There is an option to resync (Setting button Down arrow)

"As all EPG sources were listed in one lump i tried to add a "TV" sub folder and then point the setting to this to neaten things up - so far no luck in achiving this - any thoughts? I shall keep tinkering."

When you change the Root folder, the addin will re-create all child folders from scratch, you have to delete old folders manually

"I was able to schedual recordings and also watch tv - TV quality was not good however but I notice settings for streamning TV are not in the bets so I guess this will come in due course."
The addin has no influence on TV quality, check your DVBLink server settings. We do not transcode (yet), so what you see is direct stream from your server

** I agree this makes good sense

** yes this worked great thank you – My Outlook 2010 was a bit sluggish but yes refresh works.

** I deleted all and started again – I created a group using right click on the left hand pane of outlook to ‘create new calendar group’ and called this TV. I then added the channels I wanted they appeared. I then drag and dropped them into my newly created group allowing me to collapse and expand them when needed – much neater and there when I need them.

** okay great – any idea what settings I could try changing? I can confirm all works fine if I steam from the DVBLink web page but best results are seen if I select settings Video scaling factor 32x240 and Bitrate 384. I can not do this with the Outlook adin and assume this is because there is no Transcoding taking place? Or can I set the default to this scale somewhere?

Congratulations again on an excellent release – really very good.

No, BETA 1 has no support for any kind of transcoding, just raw direct stream from DVBLink server. I don't know if there is some default setting on DVBConnect server level (you will have to check this with DVBLink support)

Thanks!

"** yes this worked great thank you – My Outlook 2010 was a bit sluggish but yes refresh works."
1.When you use "Resynchronize" Outlook should not get sluggish, if it does we will need to tune some timers.
2.When you use "Resynchronize High Priority" Outlook will get sluggish since we push data to Outlook more aggressively.

Explanation:
Outlook does not support Multi-threading (touching Outlook process from any other process than main Outlook application thread will cause Outlook crash), so we are pushing data to Outlook on timers in very small slices to avoid freezing.
When you choose for "Resynchronize High Priority" we ignore the freezing problem and push more data to Outlook.

many thanks excelent Beta 1 and will be a great asset.

I shall liase with DVBLogic about defult settings and post here if any advange seen.

Transcoding will undoubtably be of use eventualy as such a setting (choice of quality and size of stream) will be programable similarly to the web portal I guess.

Many thanks.

No, not in this BETA, we depend on DVBLink server. I hope they will solve this issue because it's very annoying to have 2 kinds of recordings

Hi,

I know the the MCE addin allows for selectin a defult resording location so normal library is ussed - perhaps you could pull on this set up for DVLLink for outlook? using a similar set up would also perhaps allow for schudualed ecordings to show up on MCE EPG also - this would be a great benifit for a future release and hopfuly possibly by pulling on existing development work done by DVBLink and there MCE addin?

For now however I guess an automated folder watch and file mve system could work as a stand in untill futur development?

possible bug found?

I use MCE EPG and it was not displaying in web page for DVBLogic - the thread is here and the fix eventualy worked:

http://forum.dvblogic.co...pic.php?f=55&t=19195

this would have meant that i now see the epg data on the calendars in outlook but sadly not as I now get an error:

STATUS_ERROR call:get_scheduals

I asume this relates to the chnage of "dlrecorder" into "mc_recorder" in the dvblink_configuration.xml?

hope this is helpfull and hope you have some thoughts on this.

many thanks.

Hello,

also here we depend on DVBLink, we get all data from DVBLink webservice, non from MCE!
2013-02-28T17:17:00Z
MCE addin is DVBLink - it is there product:

example here:
http://dvblogic.com/wiki...s_in_Windows_MediaCenter

so could you use the DVBLink data perhaps? I am not a developer so appolgies if I am way off on my understanding here.

using dvblink web service we can set recording settings like recording-path, but this will change the setting of your server, not the client.

Hi,

Mnay thnaks for that.

I still get errors:

STATUS_ERROR call:get_scheduals

and

STATUS_ERROR call:get_channels

any thoughts?

should I try uninstall and re-install?

No, uninstall will not help, the real error happens on your DVBLink server. I guess when you configure dvb link to use only MCE recording ( "mc_recorder" ) it won't offer any epg data to the clients.

according to DVBLink when you use the "mc_recorder" only, only gettitng recordings should raise an error from the server. We will test this scenario

Hi, when I set DVBLink server to "mc_recorder" only, I get error on "get_schedules" call, (get_channels is OK).
Problem is we can't distinguish between "real error" and "mc_recorder" only setting. It is actually not a generic error, DVBLink is just not able to give us any recording schedules since it is disabled and scheduling is managed by MCE.

We have to get back to DVBLink development again to see if they can make changes.

I got also anwser from DVBLink on MCE recordings, they have no plans to implement it.

Hi,

Many thnaks for the update - fast work :-)

Look forward to hearing on update on the error.

as for recoding a file mover (automation of moving files) or pointing MCE to anouther recorder location is fine - both would work without issue.

I will have a play once we get the MC_Recorder issue solved.

Thanks again.

"as for recoding a file mover (automation of moving files) or pointing MCE to anouther recorder location is fine - both would work without issue."

-Moving the DVBLink recording to MCE recording folder won't help, DVBLink records in a different format! (.ts instead of .wtv)
-we can't solve issues when DVBLink server runs in "mc_recorder" ONLY mode!
DVBLink server disables all recording/schedule handling. So the addin is not able to add/manage recordings.
When trying to get schedules and recordings we will always get a generic error from DVBLink server.

If you want to use the Addin (or any other Addins for iPhone, Android etc..) you can't use "mc_recorder" ONLY mode!

Hi,

Mnay thnaks for the reply - what a shame on the MC_Recorder front. Thank you for the full reply.

I shall look into other EPG formating in that case - the issue I had was securing suitable EPC for localised channels so for example in the UK after BBC news at 10 there is you local news - most EPG availbe through DVBLink does not recognise this and take general EPG so it will example - for example - London EPG data not North or south england EPG data. I am sure there is anouther soloution however so I shall look into this. at least we know know :-)

in relation to recording - there are also programs that could watch a folder and not just move the file but also convert it - so there fore making it still automated and also same format (.WTV) - of course would be easier if DVBLink could add a option for this.

Thanks again.

" course would be easier if DVBLink could add a option for this"
sure, no one likes to manage the same in multiple folders and formats, but this is a server side (DVBLink) problem, not an Addin.

Hi all,

I'm really happy for your great idea to bring DVBLink to Outlook and THANKS for it!

Unfortunately, I installed latest version "DVBLink for Outlook setup 1.1.1.6R2.zip" and after setup, I'm able to list TV channels from DVBLink, but very try for download core EPG data will fail and it will ends with this error:

[Error] The XML document contains an error (14346, 497). (Unexpected end of file. The following elements are not closed: dvblink_epg, channel_epg, epg_searcher .: 14346 line, position 497) [System.Xml] [STATUS_INVALID_DATA

   at DVBLink.Mobile.DataProvider.Deserialize[valueType](String xml)
   at DVBLink.Mobile.DataProvider.GetResponseObject(String command, String xml_result, Object& response_object)

There is one important information for you - my Windows 10, as well as Office 2016 (from Office 365) are in Czech language.

Thanks for any help!

Regards,
Martin
